I just spent the entire morning and early afternoon dealing with the aftermath of a car accident. One that wasn't my fault but in the end I will be the one paying for it and carrying the burden.
I left my house at the same time I leave every weekday morning and made it 1 mile to the tollroad nearest my house to make a right hand turn. It's a yielded lane with a lane devoted to it to turn into and I was behind a Nissan Titan in my little Hyndai Tiburon. There weren't any cars coming on the service road and the truck in front of me started to turn . . . then he just slammed on his brakes.
I however was glancing to the left to see for myself if the coast was clear and ran right into the back of the truck. I just remember the sound of crunching as my car went right underneath the truck. I immediately lost it because up to this point I've never been in an accident on my own where I was the driver. I have no idea how I wrote all his info down or even managed to call my dad, 911, work and Allen.
When we were exchanging information I told him that I was going to call 911 and get an officer out to get a police report and he told me not to bother. I told him it wasn't an option so I called and we waited for them to show up. In the meantime, Allen got there and got on the phone with my Dad so he could let him know what was going on because I couldn't talk. Every time I got near the other driver I couldn't help but notice that he reeked of alcohol so when the officer got to the scene I made sure to pull him aside and let him know what I smelled. He took the other driver aside and asked him all sorts of questions but next thing I knew the other driver was getting in his truck to drive off. The officer came back over to us and said that he didn't smell anything other than really bad cologne so he let him go. Of course his truck had almost no damage except for maybe a dent or two that who knows if they even came from my car so all the damage is on my car.
We waited with the officer for the tow truck to come because I was leaking fluids and then we went to the house so I could call my insurance company. They set me up with a rental which of course isn't as quick and easy as it sounds when you're dealing with insurance companies but we went to go get that then headed to the tow yard to completely clean out my car. My insurance company is taking my car to another place in New Braunfels to have the adjuster look at it then decide what the overall outcome will be.
Until then I'm driving a Nissan Cube which is the funniest looking car I've ever had the pleasure to drive but it's smooth and it will get me to and from work this week which is all I need.
I still can't believe this happened this close to our wedding day but I'm just happy that I'm not at all hurt and neither was the other driver.
Now if anyone wants to help me figure out a way to get the $500 for my deductible, I'm all ears!
Expect the unexpected

Oh Jenn! I am so sorry that you had to deal with a cara accident this morning. What a shitty start to your week. BUT, hey, tomorrow is a new day and a new month. You aren't injured and you'll still be walking down that aisle looking like a supermodel in a few weeks!
Remember - it is just a car. I know, easier to say than think.
I am so relieved that you are OK! Praise the Lord!

I am so sorry this happened! What terrible timing. Sometimes things like these happen when it's the worst possible time... why???? I'm just happy you're safe. At least the deductible isn't thousands of dollars... think of it that way!! I hope you're feeling better today!
So sorry this happened, girl! But I'm glad you're okay!
Aww. :( I'm sorry you got into an accident and I'm sorry things don't seem to be going your way lately, but you'll get through it. Just keep in mind that you'll be married to your BFF soon and you'll be on a wonderful honeymoon away from all this!
Take care!
