the tiny hut-like airport in Punta Cana
a first for Allen since he's never exited a plane onto the tarmac
our lovely room for the next 5 nights
our balcony
view from our balcony
Allen wasted no time hitting up the mini-bar
we took a sunset stroll down by the beach and were stopped by this "salesman" - the resort guards had to come tell him to move along
our first official fruity drink at the main lobby bar
he asked if I'd like to hold his sword so . . I did
then Allen did while being forced to take a drink!
our 2nd fruity drinks were served to us in coconuts
Yum!
breakfast at the grill
spending the day at the pool bar
view of the ocean from the pool bar
chairs get snapped up very quickly
so we sat with our towels in the sand
this is the life
our rented cabana for the day
loving the beach

just gorgeous
havin' a drink on top of our cabana
nothing better than a pina colada served inside a pineapple
you can see the storm rolling in
our butler brought us fresh fruit and sushi (not pictured)
of course I brought our scrabble tiles
after dinner drinks
hanging out with the friends we made the first night
We arrived at Secrets Royal Beach in Punta Cana Dominican Republic around 6pm after a long day of travel. We checked in, went straight to our room and changed to go walk around the resort for awhile. We went down to the ocean and marveled at how gorgeous it was at sunset. We decided it was time for dinner so we went to the Oceana seafood restaurant in the resort where we ended up meeting Nick & Krista who we became friends with instantly. We walked around after dinner and had a few fruity drinks before deciding we needed to get some sleep after waking up at 2:30am to make our 5:15am flight out. We ended the night by opening the complimentary bottle of champagne and sitting on our balcony listening to the sounds of Punta Cana after dark.
Our first full day started with breakfast at the buffet and a visit with the concierge to find out about all the available excursions. We then walked down to the beach for a little while, laying on our towels in the sand and decided we were going to spend the rest of the day at the pool. We hung out with Christa, Nick and quite a few other people where we proceeded to get a little bit burnt and drank entirely too much. We ended up skipping dinner out that night because the day took such a toll on us. We ordered room service and enjoyed time with just the two of us in our room.
On our third day we rented an ocean-side cabana for the day and that was the best money spent on the trip. We had a personal waiter who brought us water, towels, rafts, food, fruity drinks and anything else we needed. We napped and of course played in the ocean all while having our stuff safe and secure at the cabana. It was the most relaxing, enjoyable day and we both loved it. Later in the evening we cleaned up for dinner at the all-you-can-eat lobster party. We made a stop at the casino and then the shops where local vendors were selling handmade items. We ended our third night hanging out with the newlyweds we made friends with in the promenade listening to live music.
