~ Speaking of November, my brother is participating in Movember to raise awareness & donations for Men's health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.
Statistics show that 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, this year alone 242,000 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed and 8,290 men will be diagnosed with testicular cancer. These statistics are serious and someone you know may be diagnosed or already has been.
We're asking for support in his journey this month with the Movember cause by making a donation in his name HERE. Every little bit helps fund research, awareness/education & survivorship. We both appreciate your support in his MoBro journey!
~ I was contacted this summer by the marketing department for Tiff's Treats (a Texas cookie company that delivers fresh out of the oven cookies within specific areas). They wanted to request the right to use my tweets that included their name as well as my twitter profile photo for an upcoming ad campaign. I agreed, we settled on compensation and they sent me a peek of what the ad would look like. I didn't realize at the time where they were going to use the ad and that I was going to be in an ad all by myself. So fast forward to this past week when my cousin (Hi Kristy!) sent me a text asking me if I knew I was in D Magazine in an ad for Tiff's Treats. DMagazine y'all (pg 117 of the November issue if anyone cares!). I checked Texas Monthly and didn't see any Tiff's Treats ads at all so then I checked Austin Magazine and they had an ad it was just another tweet from someone else.
So here's to tweeting about a company and winding up in their ad in a magazine!
~ I haven't mentioned this much but I set a goal on Goodreads for how many books I wanted to read this year. As of November 1st, I've read 28 books and my goal is 30! I really love to read and I'm open to most genres as long as my interest is piqued and kept. I've been known to put down a book when I'm not into it but most of the time I try to stick it out if I've gotten too far into it. A few of my favorites from this year are
~ Allen and I celebrate our 1st anniversary in 10 days. 10 days people. I swear to you that this first year has just absolutely flown by. I'm getting excited because I actually have a plan of what I'm doing for his gift but this month is so busy that I'm just hoping we actually get to celebrate on our Anniversary. I do know we will be in Dallas the weekend right before celebrating my Grandma's 85th birthday so I'll be picking up our fresh topper from the bakery and we will either eat it that weekend or on the 12th, which is our actual anniversary.
Anyone have any rockstar ideas of fun, inexpensive things we could do to celebrate?
Have a wonderful weekend y'all!
