Pinspired: Personalized gifts

Pinterest is just the best y'all!  I get so much inspiration from it on a daily basis and I'm so thankful for all the creative minds out there that I can learn from.

I was a crafting machine the past month getting ready for my cousin Rachael's bridal shower (which I'll recap this week) and found so much inspiration on Pinterest that I knew I had to recreate as gifts.  One item I've had on my "to make" list for quite awhile is a personalized burlap or natural linen pillow and I happened to luck out one day in the clearance section at Bed Bath & Beyond where I found the almost exact pillow I'd been looking for.  And thankfully they had two so I can make one for myself too!

(sorry for the crappy photo - I was losing good light and needed to get a before shot to show y'all what this pillow looked like before I gave it a makeover)

I'm not much of a sewer so I knew I would have to buy the pillow from somewhere so even though this pillow had decorative buttons on it, I knew it was perfect for what I wanted to create.  I immediately removed the buttons as soon as I got it home and just used a black paint pen to write Rachael's wedding date on the pillow.  It's now the perfect home accent piece to add to her and her husband-to-be's home and I'm thrilled with how easy it was to create.

Another item I just had to make were the personalized coffee mugs I've seen all over Pinterest.  Rachael and her fiance Adam are both coffee addicts like myself so I knew these would be loved and used consistently.  I followed the directions saying that after you've used a permanent marker to decorate your mugs, you bake them in a preheated to 350* oven for 45 minutes to ensure that the design remains even after washing.  I chose to use their new Mr & Mrs status in a more "manly" font for Adam and a more "girly" script font for Rachael on each of their mugs.  Such a fun gift for any coffee lover

Both of these items were Pinspired and so easy to create!
